Factory tours in St Petersburg are nothing like museum visits. Almost nowhere can you simply walk in: each plant has its own booking window, its own minimum group size and its own paperwork. Here is what the companies themselves publish.
Imperial Porcelain Factory
The only working production line in the city that accepts individual visitors. The factory stands at 151 Obukhovskoy Oborony Avenue, next to Lomonosovskaya metro station, and the tour goes into the workshop of high-art pieces: mixing the clay body, casting, glazing, firing and hand painting. A group ticket is 1,100 roubles per person, with a maximum of ten people per group. If you prefer your own company, one combined ticket costs 5,000 roubles for one to four visitors, plus 1,500 roubles for every extra person. The tour runs 45 minutes (the FAQ says 45–60).
Two catches. The workshop is closed at weekends — only the factory museum opens on Saturday (11:00–19:00) and Sunday (11:00–18:00), and it does not show the production process. And children: the price list says strictly over eight years old, while the FAQ says over seven, so confirm your child's age with the manager. Adults need photo ID. Booking is by phone (8 800 444-44-18) or through the website form; refunds are accepted no later than one day before the visit.
Baltika brewery
The brewery at 3 6th Verkhny Lane runs two tracks: a study ticket for organised student groups without tasting, and Standard and Individual tickets for everyone else, where tasting is included. A tour with tasting lasts about two and a half hours and only adults are admitted. The company does not publish the price; groups are formed by phone (+7 965 089 23 55) Monday to Friday, 10:00–16:30, so a same-day weekend booking is impossible.
Metro depots
The St Petersburg metro opens its working depots — Avtovo (22/2 Tramvayny Avenue) and Vyborgskoye (162 Engelsa Avenue) — plus the historic rolling stock centre at Yuzhnoye depot (113 Sofiyskaya Street), where a restored German carriage that ran in Berlin until 1945 is on display. A working train driver leads the visit, and you may sit in the driver's cab. The rules are strict: organised groups only, from 15 to 30 people, advance booking, 1,000 roubles per ticket with no concessions, ages 9 and up. Passport or birth certificate details must be sent in advance for security passes, and originals are checked at the gate.
