The classic October mistake in St Petersburg: you head to Peterhof's Lower Park on 19 October, arrive at five in the afternoon and find the box office shut. The summer schedule ends on 18 October.
October is the month when seasonal sites close out of step with each other. Every one has its own date. Here is what the museums themselves publish.
Peterhof: 18 October is not about the fountains
Two facts get confused here constantly.
The museum states that from 25 April to 18 October 2026 the Lower Park is open daily 9:00–20:00, ticket offices 9:00–19:30. The same date ends the combined "Lower Park + Tsar's Amusements" ticket and the information centre in the Grand Palace.
The fountains themselves are a different matter. In a news item dated 13 August the museum said the fountains at Peterhof will run until the beginning of November. No exact date is given, so check again before a late-October trip.
While the summer schedule holds, the fountains play daily from 10:00 to 19:45. Park entry is 2,000 ₽ at the full rate and 900 ₽ for Russian and EAEU citizens. The ticket admits you once — leave and you need a new one.
Alexandria Park follows the same calendar: 8:00–20:00 until 18 October, last entry 19:45, with free entry before 10:00 and after 18:00.
St Isaac's and the Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood
The most underrated October loss. Evening openings at both — 18:00 to 21:30, last admission 21:00 — run only from 1 May to 30 September. From 1 October both close at 18:00, with the box office shutting at 17:30.
The same applies to St Isaac's colonnade: evening climbs stop after 30 September. By day it stays open 10:00–18:00 all year, but from 1 October to 30 April it takes a day off on the third Wednesday of the month. Both cathedrals are closed on Wednesdays year round.
What changes where
Boats: no firm date
The honest answer is that there isn't one. Operators of the fast hydrofoils to Peterhof and Kronstadt write about the "navigation season" but do not publish the date of the last sailing in advance. If you plan to travel by water late in the month, check with the operator on the day you buy, and keep a land route in reserve.
