A cinema ticket in St Petersburg costs anywhere from 150 to 550 roubles, and the difference is rarely about the screen. It is about the weekday, the hour and whether you buy at the box office or online. All the figures below come from the cinemas' own websites and from the city's public cinema network, checked on 18 September 2026.
What a normal ticket costs
For chain cinemas, use 330 ₽ as the floor for an ordinary evening show: that was the lowest regular evening price in the Mirage Cinema schedule for 18 September, at its venue in the Mezhdunarodny mall on Bely Kuna Street 3. At Rodina, the city-run cinema centre at Karavannaya Street 12, small halls were 300 ₽ that day and the big hall and late shows 350–400 ₽. Three operators — KARO, Avrora and Velikan Park — publish no prices in their page source at all; their schedules load through a widget, so you cannot compare them without opening each session.
The two discounts that halve the price
Rodina runs a Monday deal: every screening costs 200 ₽. Checked against the schedule for Monday 21 September, the price held across the big hall and both small halls. Mirage Cinema runs a weekly promotion called Films of the Week, also 200 ₽, valid Thursday to Wednesday — but explicitly not at its Bolshoy Prospekt, PIK and Mezhdunarodny venues.
Concessions: 150 roubles, box office only
The lowest confirmed price in the city is 150 ₽, charged by Mirage Cinema to pensioners and veterans on weekdays between 10:00 and 17:00, excluding public holidays and VIP halls, and to families with three or more children for films rated 0+, 6+ and 12+. Two rules catch people out: concessions are issued at the box office on the day of the screening only, and they do not stack. The city network Peterburg-Kino, which runs Rodina, Voskhod, Druzhba, Zanevsky, Uran and Filmofond, sells concession and children's tickets at the box office only, and only for shows starting before 17:00 on weekdays. Students get 30 per cent off at Mirage on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, again at the counter and with a student card.
Mornings, small halls and free screenings
At Dom Kino, also at Karavannaya 12, the same film cost 300 ₽ at 10:50 and 400 ₽ at 15:15, and the cheapest slot in the 19 September schedule was a 13:00 small-hall show at 250 ₽ against 350–550 ₽ in the big hall. No cinema publishes a fixed morning tariff, so the tactic is to scan the day's schedule for the lowest numbers. Peterburg-Kino also marks some shows as free screenings — on 18 September the wartime documentary drama Blockade Diary played free at Voskhod, Zanevsky, Uran and Druzhba — though you still need a ticket to enter, since access to the halls requires one.
Subtitles, retrospectives and paying without a Russian card
Rodina flags original-language shows with a SUB label and runs a subtitled strand in its ArtPokaz programme; Dom Kino puts the word for subtitles in the title and lists the soundtrack as original with Russian subtitles. Dom Kino screened an Otar Iosseliani retrospective on 19 September at 450 ₽, and the Lenfilm studio cinema on Kamennoostrovsky Prospekt 10 opened the ninth season of its film club on 16 September. If you have no Russian bank card, use the method Peterburg-Kino recommends itself: reserve the seat on the website and choose payment at the box office, then pay in cash or by card on site. Network box offices are open 10:00 to 22:45 daily.
