You have a laptop, one working day in St Petersburg and no desk. The hostel is loud, the flat has thin walls, and a café table starts to feel borrowed after ninety minutes. The city solves this in three price tiers, and the figures below come from the venues' own websites, checked on 18 September 2026.
Day passes: 1,000 to 1,900 roubles
A day rate is a standard product here. SMART-coworking near Pionerskaya metro sells SMART DAY for 1,000 ₽ — an assigned desk, unlimited Wi-Fi, kitchen, copy zone, tea and coffee, plus phone booths for calls; the venue is open 09:00 to 21:00, seven days a week. Avenue PAGE at Aptekarskaya Embankment 18 charges 1,500 ₽ for a desk in the open area and claims 500 workstations, daily 9:00 to 21:00. Praktik Impulse near Grazhdansky Prospekt metro asks 1,700 ₽ for its Day tariff: any free desk from 9:00 to 21:00, scanning and up to 40 black-and-white prints a day, colour printing and unlimited hot drinks. The coworking at Lev Tolstoy Street 1-3 is the most expensive of the checked options at 1,900 ₽ a day, or 1,330 ₽ for students, with a locker and gym access included.
The cheapest paid ways in
Trial visits undercut the day rate. SOK at Shcherbakov Lane 17/3c2 sells a single visit for 1,250 ₽ with access to the open area from 9:00 to 19:00, an offer its site runs until 31 December 2026. Avenue PAGE prices a Saturday or Sunday trial day at 500 ₽, strictly by prior booking. For short sessions, Praktik Impulse sells a two-hour pass, Hours, for 900 ₽.
Free desks, and what they require
The city runs free coworking spaces under the PROSTO brand at seven addresses, from Karpovka Embankment 5AK to Zavodskoy Prospekt 10 in Kolpino. The condition is age: 14 to 35. Registration goes through the website, and the Karpovka site also lends meeting rooms, a laptop, a multifunction printer and a flipchart at no cost. Tochka Kipeniya at Polytechnicheskaya 29, in the Polytechnic University's water tower, has a coworking area and a meeting room, open weekdays 09:30 to 20:30 and closed at weekends.
Libraries and pay-by-the-minute cafés
The National Library of Russia runs 32 reading halls with Wi-Fi in all of them. From 1 September to 30 June they open 9:00 to 21:00 on weekdays and 11:00 to 19:00 at weekends, with the last Tuesday of each month closed for cleaning and admission ending half an hour before closing time. You need a reader's card: anyone aged 14 or over can register, Russian citizens with a Russian passport, at desks working 9:00 to 20:30 on weekdays. If you prefer paying for time rather than coffee, Ziferblat at Moyka Embankment 90 charges 4.50 ₽ per minute with a cap of 891 ₽ per visit, coffee and Wi-Fi included.
What to check before you pay
Round-the-clock access is sold with monthly memberships only — Praktik's Fix at 22,000 ₽ a month, SOK's Plus and Profi tiers — so a day pass ends at 21:00. Meeting rooms are usually booked and paid separately. Day rates do not need a company contract: the Lev Tolstoy venue sells the day online under standard terms for individuals, and Ziferblat works on a public offer and takes cards at the counter.
