In autumn the Meteor hydrofoils to Peterhof are cancelled far more often than in summer: wind over the Gulf of Finland raises a swell, and a departure can be pulled an hour or two before sailing, sometimes on the pier itself. Your ticket is paid for, the day is planned, and the fountains in the Lower Park run until 18 October. Here is what you are owed, how to reschedule, and how to reach Peterhof by land for the same money.

Why they cancel

A Meteor is a hydrofoil, and it crosses open water, not a river. In strong gusty wind and waves the operator cancels for safety, based on the actual weather — so a departure listed in the morning can vanish by lunchtime. In September and October this happens every week. Schedules also thin out towards the end of the fountain season: in summer one major operator sails hourly from the Admiralty Embankment, 10:00–16:00 outbound and 13:00–18:30 back, with a crossing of about 40 minutes; in autumn there are fewer sailings and the last boat back may leave earlier than you expect.

What you are owed

If the operator cancels for weather, you get a choice of a new date or a full refund to the card you paid with — that is the standard rule of the major ticket sellers. If you hold a return ticket and only the return sailing is cancelled, the return leg is refunded and you get back to the city by land.

If you change your mind, the rules are stricter and depend on notice. One of the largest sellers refunds in full with 48 hours' notice, minus 5 % with 24 hours, and not at all within 6 hours of departure; a date change must be requested by e-mail at least six hours before sailing. Other operators differ — the rules on the purchase page are the only document you can rely on.

Frequently asked questions

Do I get a refund if the Meteor to Peterhof is cancelled for weather?

Yes, in full — or a new date. This is the standard condition of the major operators.

Can I return a Meteor ticket if I change my mind?

Depends on notice: one major seller refunds in full 48 hours ahead, minus 5 % at 24 hours, and nothing within 6 hours. Check the rules on the purchase page.

Until when do the Meteors run to Peterhof in 2026?

Usually until the end of the fountain season, 18 October 2026, with a reduced autumn schedule — check sailings for your date with the operator.
