Saint Petersburg is hosting the tenth edition of the «Tchaikovsky. Reboot» festival («Чайковский. Перезагрузка»). Until the end of November the Governor's Symphony Orchestra of Saint Petersburg, led by conductor Anton Lubchenko, plays seven programmes in some of the city's finest halls: the Capella, the Grand Hall of the Philharmonia, two state rooms of the Hermitage, the Maltese Chapel and the «Nevskaya Ratusha» venue.

This year the focus is on rarely performed music. Next to well-known Tchaikovsky, the programmes include pieces by Stravinsky, Rimsky-Korsakov and Shostakovich that seldom appear on concert posters, as Governor Alexander Beglov said on 7 October.

Why this year is special

This is the festival's tenth season. It opened on 8 October at the Academic Capella, 20 Moika Embankment, with Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 (soloist Alexander Kashpurin) and Stravinsky's early Symphony in E-flat major. The festival is rated 6+.

Key concerts: dates and venues

Early announcements in September gave 4 November for the finale; the governor's statement of 7 October names 29 November. Check the date on the ticket page before buying.

How to get tickets

Tickets are sold per concert. Prices were not published in official announcements and depend on the venue and seat.

Start times were officially announced only for the opening night, so check the time on each concert page. On a budget? See our guide to free concerts in Saint Petersburg.

An exhibition to go with it

Alongside the festival, the former City Duma building on Nevsky Prospekt, closed to the public for decades, hosts the exhibition «Elusive Beauty and New Life. Renaissance» from 7 October to 22 November. It shows work by more than 40 artists plus archive materials, with curator tours and artist talks planned. For more shows this month, see our October exhibitions guide.

First time? Start here

If you only go to one concert, choose 16 October at the Philharmonia. It is pure Tchaikovsky, and the «Slavonic March» and the Fourth Symphony are easy to love on first hearing. For the palace setting, pick the finale in the Hermitage's Armorial Hall. For the rarities the festival is built around, go to the Maltese Chapel on 11 October.

Checked on 9 October 2026.
