Some Saint Petersburg events come back every year, which makes them the easiest way to plan a trip months ahead. Here is what the organisers have confirmed for 2026, arranged by season, with a note on what is free and what needs a ticket. Exact dates shift a little each year, so check the official sites listed at the end before you book.

Spring

Summer

Not happening in 2026: the Gatchina palace museum has announced there will be no "Night of Light" this year and warns about fake tickets.

Autumn

Winter

How to use this

For the city at its peak, take the second half of June: White Nights, the Mariinsky festival, Scarlet Sails. Those are also the most expensive weeks, and SPIEF at the start of June pushes prices further. For a calmer trip, late August and September give you the bridge festival, Vyborg, the last weeks of the Peterhof fountains and the bridges still opening at night. Winter is a different city but not an empty one: the Manezhnaya fair, New Year on Palace Square and Ruskeala under snow.
