The Samoilov Family Museum is the unique memorial apart- ment of drama actors in Saint- Petersburg. Since 1869 the owner of this three-storied private mansion has been Vasily Vasilyevich Samoilov (1813-1887), a famous actor of Alexandrinsky Theatre, representative of the second generation of this actors’ dynasty. During his life the house was one of the most lively cultural hubs in Saint-Petersburg, where actors, musicians, artists, writers got together. In the museum, which was opened in 1994, the lay-out and interior are preserved as they used to be when this apartment belonged to Samoilov. The exposition reflects the history of this actors’ family (1803-1849), whose representatives were shin- ing at Saint-Petersburg’s stage for almost one and a half century.
